A tornado tore through areas near De Soto, Missouri, on the evening of Saturday, June 7, damaging at least 53 structures as severe storms swept across the state.
The tornado remained on the ground for approximately 11 kilometers (7 miles), with the most significant damage reported along Big River Heights Road near Highway 21 and Wilson Hollow Road—both located about 6.5 kilometers (4 miles) south of De Soto.
Tornado Warnings were issued around 19:00 local time (LT) for parts of Jefferson, St. François, and Washington counties, including a specific warning for the De Soto area.

“Preliminary mapping data shows the tornado significantly damaged 12 structures and impacted an estimated 53 properties along its path. It’s not yet clear how many of those are residences,” said Tom Fitzgerald, Chief of the De Soto Fire Protection District.
A comprehensive damage assessment is still underway, with additional details expected as authorities continue to survey the affected areas.
